To roughly determine degrees of engagement on any hub, use this formula:
The degree of engagement is 360° divided by the number of teeth in the ratchet ring.
360 / 36-tooth ratchet ring = 10° of freehub engagement
* This calculation is a general rule of thumb. The number of pawls, the type they are (multi-stepped versus single-stepped) and how the pawls are phased, along with other factors such as crank length and gearing, all play a role in how the rider will interpret the engagement of a hub.
